ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Waste Commission of Scott County’s Household Hazardous Material (HHM) Facilities serve Scott County and Rock Island County residents and businesses that generate a limited amount of hazardous material such as paints, pesticides and cleaners, motor oil, oil filters and antifreeze. Auto fluids are accepted through the HHM program; the facility no longer has an unattended station for dropping off automotive fluids pursuant to a permit through the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
There is no charge for Scott and Rock Island County residents to bring household hazardous material to the facility. Rock Island County Waste Management Agency
covers the costs for Rock Island County residents. All other counties' residents are charged like businesses - up to a maximum of $35. Businesses are charged according to the type and quantity of waste and should contact the Commission’s special waste coordinator by e-mail
or phone at (563) 388-1446 for assistance.
Acceptable Items: Hazardous products can be found throughout the home. Look in the kitchen, bathroom, basement and garage for items such as cleaners, paints, pesticides or automotive products. See a list of acceptable items here.
- Please remain in vehicle at all times.
- No smoking.
- Keep items in original containers and never mix materials together,
- Label containers that are unmarked.
