Batteries
You can help prevent fires at solid waste facilities. Keep lithium and rechargeable batteries — those often found inside electronics such as laptops and cell phones — out of your garbage and recycling carts, and drop them off for proper disposal, instead.
How to Recycle
Recycle batteries at the Electronic Recovery Center or in one of our after-hours drop boxes (located near the recycling drop-offs at Carey Ave, West Lake Park, and Scott County Park). No charge and no appointment necessary for Scott & Rock Island County residents! Damaged batteries, data-containing devices, and vehicle batteries aren’t allowed in the dropoff bins should be brought to the Electronics Recovery Center for recycling.
Please note: The Electronics Recovery Center cannot accept batteries with a capacity of 300 or more Watt-hours (Wh).
