What to Know
Scott Area Landfill serves residents and businesses by landfilling waste generated in Scott County, Iowa only. The Commission does not provide collection or hauling services.

Rules:
- All loads must be tarped or tied down.
- A Hi-Vis safety vest is required to be worn by all customers unloading at the working face.
- Burnt debris or burn barrels must be dropped off by 2:30 p.m.
- Loads requiring special handling (such as railroad ties and utility poles) must be dropped off by 2:30 p.m.
- Waste generated outside Scott County will not be accepted.
- Liquids and hazardous materials (such as paints, pesticides/herbicides, automotive fluids, etc.) are not allowed in the landfill. You can dispose of these items through the Waste Commission’s Household Hazardous Material facility.
- Yard waste such as grass, leaves, and logs may not be landfilled and must go to the Davenport Compost Facility.
- Electronic waste such as computers and TVs must go to the Electronic Recovery Center.

Drop off Recycling
Drop off recycling is available at the Landfill for items that can be recycled through Scott County’s curbside program.
Clean Asphalt Shingles
Accepted at a reduced fee.
Automotive (lead-acid batteries)
Accepted during regular hours of operation at no charge.
Oil, Oil Filters, and Antifreeze
Up to 25 gallons per month of used motor oil, antifreeze, and drained oil filters can be recycled at no charge for residents. For businesses or if you have more than 25 gallons, please call (563) 381-1300 for assistance.
Electronics
Single items can be accepted at no charge for Scott County residents. Electronics are preferred to be taken to Electronics Recovery Center located at 5650 Carey Ave, Davenport.
Building Material Reuse
For gently used building materials, contact Habitat Restore.
*Material must be separated at time of service for proper recycling.

The Scott Area Landfill is located on County Road Y-48 three miles south of Highway 61 (West River Drive). From Davenport, take River Drive west past the I-280 interchange to the next intersection with a stoplight. Turn left (south) onto Y-48 and the Landfill is 3 miles down on the left-hand side of the road.
