Recycling cart deliveries June 22-July 30

June 21, 2016
It’s almost time to go all in! New recycling carts are coming soon, along with information about when and how to use them. It’s all part of Go All In, the new recycling program in Scott County.

“The Commission and its partners are excited to roll out recycling changes this summer. We’ve been working for over two years to bring our new, easier recycling program to life, and we’re proud to say we are almost there,” said Kathy Morris, Director of Waste Commission of Scott County.

The Commission owns and operates the Scott Area Recycling Center, 5640 Carey Ave., Davenport, which has been closed since October 2015 for construction to allow for recycling program changes. The Recycling Center is expected to reopen in August 2016, when it will begin accepting recyclables collected using the single-stream model (all recyclables in one cart). More items will be accepted for recycling with the new program, too.

Cart delivery will begin June 22 and end the week of July 24. Delivery will take several weeks and will take place in Davenport first, followed by Bettendorf. Residents of both cities will start using their carts Aug. 1.

Davenport Mayor Frank Klipsch and Bettendorf Mayor Robert Gallagher together will deliver the first recycling cart at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at 1540 Crow Creek Road, which is located on the border of Davenport and Bettendorf. Both mayors will be available for interviews, along with representatives from the Commission.

All households that currently receive recycling collection from the cities of Bettendorf and Davenport will receive a new, blue cart. Carts will arrive with educational materials attached, including an informational brochure, refrigerator magnet, info-card and bookmark. In addition, carts will have labels on top with pictures of what goes in.

This week residents are receiving postcards in the mail announcing cart delivery and providing general information about recycling program changes.

Residents may request to be notified when carts are on the way to their neighborhood. To sign up, they should visit goallinqc.org and click “About My Cart.”
