The Commission is a 28E, inter-governmental agency whose members are the 17 communities in Scott County and the County itself. The Commissioners include the mayor of Davenport, a Davenport alderman, mayor of Bettendorf, mayor of an outlying community and the chair of the Scott County Board of Supervisors.

What does the Commission do?
The Commission operates the Scott Area Landfill, Scott Area Recycling Center, two Household Hazardous Material Facilities and the Electronic Demanufacturing Facility. The Commission also supports the iLivehere: myhome ourcommunity® environmental outreach program. In addition, the Commission also runs recycling programs for tires, appliances, construction & demolition material, scrap metal and provides free disposal options for medical sharps containers and pharmaceuticals.

Do you collect garbage and recycling in Scott County?
The Commission does not provide any collection services for garbage or recycling in Scott County. Rather, we process all of the materials that are collected and hauled to our facilities. The collection is provided by the municipalities in Bettendorf and Davenport and by private haulers in the outlying communities. Check with your city to find out more information about collection.
