Garbage Collection: Set at curb on Mondays by 7:00 a.m., will be picked up by
Allied Waste. Garbage must be in blue container, available at Public Works Department.
Recycling Collection: Recyclables must be in blue container that residents may pick up at the Public Works Department. Place out every other Monday.

Holidays: Allied Waste recognizes six major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Garbage collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection on or after holiday during the holiday week.
Appliances and Electronics: Set by curb and call Public Works Department at 563-284-6571 x 11. A disposal fee of $7.50 is required for most items. A fee of $15.00 is required for TVs, copiers and monitors. Or, residents may take items to the
Electronic Demanufacturing Facility for recycling at no charge.
Household Hazardous Materials: Residents may take items to Waste Commission of Scott County, by appointment, at no charge. See
Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities.
Bulky Waste: Set out on normal garbage day. If Allied Waste does not collect it, call the Public Works Department.
Christmas Trees: Set at curb and call Public Works Department.
Brush and Tree Trimmings: Set at curb and call Public Works Department. In the fall, typically October and November, residents can bag leaves from their lawns and take them to the compost area or call for a pickup.
Tires: Residents are responsible for taking tires to the
Scott Area Landfill.
Compost Area: The compost area is open to Walcott residents. Acceptable items include: leaves, brush, trees, limbs, grass, and garden vegetation.
Rules:
- Do not leave behind the bags or containers used for hauling leaves.
- Only dispose of leaves in area marked with a sign.
- Do not combine leaves and sticks in the same area. There are signs posted for different areas.
Motor Oil: May bring to Public Works for recycling.
Burning Regulations: There is a "No Burn" policy in the City of Walcott.
