Garbage Collection: Allied Waste collects garbage on Thursdays. Must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
Recycling Collection: Allied Waste collects recyclables every other week on Thursday. Must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. in city recycling bins. See
acceptable items.
Holidays: Allied Waste recognizes six major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Garbage collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection on or after holiday during the holiday week.
Appliances and Bulky Waste: The city has Spring and Fall Cleanup Day.
Electronic Waste Recycling: Residents may take items to the
Electronic Demanufacturing Facility for recycling at no charge.
Household Hazardous Materials: Residents may take items to Waste Commission of Scott County, by appointment, at no charge. See
Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities.
Cleanup Days/Weeks: Spring and Fall.
Tires: Tires will only be taken on Spring and Fall Cleanup Day.
Brush and Tree Trimmings: If bundled and tied according to regulation, will be picked up by the city on Tuesdays. Must have to curb by 8:00 a.m.
Christmas Trees: Picked up by the city truck if placed at the curb.
Grass and Leaves: Picked up by city truck if placed by curb before 8:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and in City of Long Grove yard waste bags. The bags and/or stickers may be purchased at City HallThe cost is $1.50 for bag and sticker or $1.00 for sticker only.
Motor Oil: Oil may be taken to the
Scott Area Landfill or
Scott Area Recycling Center for recycling.
Burning Regulations: Leaves may be burned Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. NO GRASS burning is allowed.
