Garbage Collection: Hauler is Allied Waste and collection is on Friday mornings.

Recycling Collection: Recycling is also done by Allied Waste on Friday mornings.

Collection Holidays: Allied Waste recognizes six major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Garbage collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection on or after holiday during the holiday week.

Appliances, Bulky Waste, Tires: Dispose during annual Operation Clean Sweep in April.

Electronic Waste Recycling: No city arrangements. Items may be taken to the Electronic Demanufacturing Facility for recycling.

Cleanup Days/Weeks: Operation Clean Sweep in April.

Brush and Tree Trimmings: The open burning of trees and tree trimmings at a city-operated burning site is permitted, provided such burning is conducted in compliance with the rules established by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Christmas Trees: As stated above.

Grass and Leaves: Must be placed in brown bags purchased at City Hall.

Motor Oil: Oil may be taken to the Scott Area Landfill or Scott Area Recycling Center for recycling.

Household Hazardous Materials: Items such as paints, pesticides, cleaners and other toxins in the home should be taken to one of the Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities.

Burning Regulations: Open burning is restricted with some exceptions. Call for details.
