Garbage Collection: Garbage is hauled by
Allied Waste on Tuesdays. All garbage must be in bags inside garbage cans with lids. Pickup begins at 7 a.m.
Recycling Collection: Buffalo has mandatory recycling. Containers may be purchased anywhere by the customer. Allied Waste will pick up every other week on garbage day.

Holidays: Allied Waste recognizes six major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Garbage collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection on or after holiday during the holiday week.
Bulky Waste/Bulk Items: One bulky item per household can be set out on the first pickup day of the month.
Appliances: Homeowner’s responsibility.
Electronic Waste Recycling: No city arrangements. Items may be taken to the
Electronic Demanufacturing Facility for recycling.
Cleanup Days/Weeks: Once a year in the spring. Call in early April for the date.
Brush, Tree Trimmings and Christmas Trees: Call Public Works at 381-3530 to have names put on a list for chipping as time permits.
Grass and Leaves: Allied Waste will collect grass and leaves on garbage day. Purchase stickers at City Hall for $1.50 each. Homeowner supplies own biodegradable paper bags.
Motor Oil: Oil may be taken to the
Scott Area Landfill or
Scott Area Recycling Center for recycling.
Household Hazardous Materials: Items such as paints, pesticides, cleaners and other toxins in the home should be taken to one of the
Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities.
Burning Regulations: Burning is allowed of limbs and branches. No garbage, burn barrels, building materials, or grass.
