Garbage Collection: Allied Waste picks up garbage each Monday. Must be curbside by 7:00 a.m. If Monday is a holiday observed by Allied Waste Service, Tuesday will be pickup day. City Hall to announce.

Recycling Collection: Blue Grass has mandatory recycling. Allied Waste Service is the hauler and will pick up recycling on garbage day.

Holidays: Allied Waste recognizes six major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Garbage collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection on or after holiday during the holiday week.

Appliances, Bulky Waste and Tires: Homeowner’s responsibility. See Scott Area Landfill.

Electronic Waste Recycling: No city arrangements. Items may be taken to the Electronic Demanufacturing Facility for recycling.

Curbside Large Item Pickup: One free item per month on the first pick-up of each month. Purchase large item stickers at City Hall for $1.00 each. Call City Hall for a list of acceptable items.

Cleanup Days/Weeks: One day in the spring and fall. City Hall to announce.

Tree Trimmings: Homeowner may burn on a designated burn day. Call Fire Station 381-1234 for pre-recorded message to determine if it is an approved burn day.

Brush, Grass and Leaves: Purchase stickers at City Hall for $1.75 each. Homeowner supplies own bags. Must be paper biodegradable bags only. Garbage hauler will pick up on garbage day at certain tims of the year designated by the hauler. City Hall to announce.

Christmas Trees: Allied Waste will pick up in January. City Hall to announce dates.

Motor Oil: Residents may drop off oil at the City Maintenance Shop during business hours at no charge.

Household Hazardous Materials: Items such as paints, pesticides, cleaners and other toxins in the home should be taken to one of the Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities.

Burning Regulations: No burning of leaves, trees, grass, rubbish, residential waste or yard waste. Tree trimmings are allowed on a designated burn day. For burn day information call 381-1234 for a pre-recorded message.
