Garbage Collection: Allied Waste picks up garbage each Monday. Must be curbside by 7:00 a.m. If Monday is a holiday observed by Allied Waste, Tuesday will be pickup day. City Hall to announce.
Recycling Collection: Blue Grass has mandatory recycling. Allied Waste is the hauler and will pick up recycling every other week on garbage day. See
acceptable items.
Holidays: Allied Waste recognizes six major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Garbage collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection on or after holiday during the holiday week.
Appliances, Bulky Waste and Tires: Property owner's responsibility. Items may be taken to Waste Commission of Scott County. See
Scott Area Landfill.
Electronic Waste Recycling: Residents may take items to the
Electronic Demanufacturing Facility at no charge.
Household Hazardous Materials: Residents may take Items to Waste Commission of Scott County, by appointment, at no charge. See
Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities.
Motor Oil: Oil may be taken to the
Scott Area Landfill or
Scott Area Recycling Center for recycling.
Curbside Large Item Pickup: One free item per month on the first pick-up of each month. Purchase large item stickers at City Hall for $1.00 each. Call City Hall for a list of acceptable items.
Cleanup Days/Weeks: One day in the spring. City Hall to announce date. One day in the fall for all large or bulky items to be picked up at curbside at no charge. Does not include appliances, electronics or tires. City Hall to announce date.
Tree Trimmings: Purchase stickers at City Hall for $1.75. Trimmings must be in 3-foot tieds bundles, not more than 50 lbs. and 3 inches or less in diameter.
Brush, Grass and Leaves: Purchase stickers at City Hall for $1.75 each. Propery owner supplies own bages. Bags must be yard/lawn biodegradable kraft-type paper bags only. Four (4) free weekly pickups in the Fall, to be announced by City Hall.
Burning Regulations: No burning of leaves, trees, grass, yard waste, rubbish, residential waste. Call the burn day information line for allowed burn days at 381-1234 for pre-recorded message.
Large Item Pickup: Purchase stickers at City Hall for $1.00 each. Call City Hall for a list of acceptable items. See Cleanup Days/Weeks for another option.
